Evaluating partnerships between companies and citizens’ organisations
A follow on activity from the European project, “Lisbon minus 3: Evaluating CSR partnerships”, carried out by the Active Citizenship Foundation (FONDACA) and Active Citizenship Network (ACN) in 2007 and co-financed by DG Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission, and UniCredit Group. Its main goal has been to develop a methodology and a tools for evaluating partnerships between companies and citizens’ organisations. The methodology and indicators were tested in 14 EU countries – Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy.
Monitoring and evaluating the state of the rights to European active citizenship
The project consists in the set up, application and diffusion of a Matrix of indicators concerning the implementation of the rights to European Active Citizenship, with regard to citizens’ organizations. These rights are derived from the European Charter of Active Citizenship, set up by FONDACA and ACN in 2006 with the support of the European Commission. The project involves 11 countries – Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey represented by one partner organisation.

Analysis of Hospital Reform Policy in Bulgaria
A joint project of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine,
Index Foundation and the University of National and World Economy, financed
by the British Academy of Sciences.
The study identifies the obstacles to hospital reform and the feasible
strategies to overcome these. Specific questions include: design and implementation
of reform; hospital financing; organizational changes; institutional and
political context.
Study on the provision of hospital services in Bulgaria and
Estonia: What is rational and what is not?
The purpose of this research is to describe some of the practical issues
and options involved in introducing rationalization strategies to improve
hospital care provision in the two countries - Bulgaria and Estonia. It
is aimed at both policy makers and those responsible for the actual implementation
of hospital management reforms. The project envisages round tables in
Bulgaria and Estonia and an international conference in Bulgaria, with
the participation of all stakeholders and foreign experts working in the
area of hospital reform.
The project is funded by the Local Government Program /LGI/ of Open Society
Institute - Budapest.

Citizens of the New Europe
A survey aimed at identification and description of the current public
policies in the area of civic activism in the 28 countries of New Europe,
carried out in the framework of the Active Citizenship Network, which
was started up as the European and international branch of the Italian
active citizenship organization Cittadinanzattiva.
